Is people counting the same thing as security cameras?
It is the same cameras doing a second job. Occupancy tracking uses virtual tripwires to give a live headcount, and that number is useful to a floor manager for reasons that have nothing to do with theft. The security value does not go away; you simply stop paying for a camera that only earns its keep on the day something goes wrong.
What can the footage tell me besides who took something?
Where people go, where they stop, and where they queue. Heat mapping and queue monitoring turn recorded video into a picture of how the shop actually works, which is generally more actionable than the theft footage everyone buys cameras for.
How long do I keep the recordings, and can I export them?
Retention depends on how the system is specified, so it is worth settling deliberately rather than accepting a default. Exporting is straightforward, and the file format for downloaded clips is a setting you can change, which matters when a police report or an insurer wants something specific. Staff turnover is constant. How do we manage codes and credentials?
Individually, and centrally. Alarm user codes are added through the customer website rather than the panel, and door credentials are granted or revoked from the dashboard with immediate effect across every door. Can I stop the stockroom being open to everyone?
Yes. Permissions can be set by role, by department or by location, and access schedules limit entry by time of day. A forced or held door raises a real time alert rather than sitting in a log nobody opens.
Someone opens up at 6am and trips the alarm. What happens?

Do false alarms cost a shop money?
Yes, and business permits often run on shorter terms than residential ones. Garden Grove issues business permits for one calendar year against three for a residence. An expired permit removes the free allowance entirely and makes every activation chargeable from the first. Check your city page.
Can I run several stores from one login?
Yes. Video, access and intrusion sit on one dashboard across locations, and users can be managed across all sites at once rather than store by store.
Who turns up if the alarm goes at night?
We do not provide guards ourselves, but the monitoring station can be programmed to dispatch a private guard, a patrol operator, a response service or the police, in whatever order suits the site. See guard and alarm response services.
We already have cameras. Can you just take them over?
Usually not, and it is better to say so than to promise it. Straightforward takeovers are rare and are normally only simple on systems we installed. What is possible depends entirely on the hardware in place, so it needs someone to look. See monitoring an existing or third party system.
