FALSE ALARMS

Norco's $175 false alarm fee

Norco Municipal Code 9.65.21 makes it unlawful to cause or be responsible for a false alarm.

The responsible party may be charged a false alarm fee of $175.00 for each incident. Only the Fire Chief can waive it. There is no free allowance written into the section.

The same section lets the city bill an alarm company for repeat fire alarm malfunctions within 365 consecutive days:

  • 3rd response: $200
  • 4th response: $300
  • 5th and later: $500 each

After repeated malfunctions, the Fire Chief may require the system to be taken out of service until it is fixed.

SETUP

Avoiding a fee on the first mistake

Because the Norco fee can apply from the first incident, prevention matters.

We test every zone at installation, set entry delays that fit how your household comes and goes, and train each user. Smoke and heat detectors are placed away from kitchens and steam, and the Alarm.com app lets you cancel an accidental alarm from your phone.

Keep contacts current. Our operators call your list before dispatch, so a quick answer can stop a needless response.
