Two false alarms, then a service charge
The city counts police responses to false alarms over any 12-month period.
Owners may not operate a system that generates more than two false alarms in any 12-month period (SCMC 11.05.080). After the first two, each police response to a false alarm is subject to a service charge set by City Council resolution (SCMC 11.05.140). The code does not publish the amount, so confirm it with the city.
The Sheriff documents false alarms, and appeals go to the City Manager (SCMC 11.05.110 and 11.05.120).
New system break-in. The city may allow a break-in period of up to 30 consecutive days for a new system, with written notice, during which false alarms are not charged (SCMC 11.05.130).
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station
Santa Clarita contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Alarm dispatches go to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, (661) 260-4000. Because the city covers several distinct communities, make sure your monitoring account has the exact address and nearest cross streets.
Tip. Ask about the break-in period when your new system goes live.
