The city’s alarm permit application lists two permit types, each valid for 2 years:

  • Residential alarm permit: $17
  • Business alarm permit: $34

Applications go to the City of Signal Hill Finance Department, 2175 Cherry Avenue, Signal Hill, CA 90755, with the permit fee. For questions about the alarm ordinance, the city directs you to the Signal Hill Police Department at 562-989-7206.

FALSE ALARMS

One free false alarm a year

Under Section 8.48.140, a fee applies to every false alarm after the first in any consecutive 12-month period.

The city’s police fee schedule lists these charges:

  • First false alarm: $0
  • Burglary alarm, second and later false alarms: $70 each
  • Robbery alarm, second and later false alarms: $140 each

No fee is charged for false alarms within 30 days after a new alarm is first installed, as long as the system otherwise meets the chapter’s rules. Fees can be updated, so confirm the current amounts with the city.
